Hurrah, Google has introduced themes in Gmail. Now you can choose to make it look like your desk or use old school terminal style. Not really useful but fun to play with.

    Published on

After 3 years my new apartment is full with stuff, so I can either move to a bigger place or clean up a bit. The first option is a bit expensive, that’s why I chose the latter. Throwing away isn’t always that easy. There’s no undelete on the garb...

  5. An Apple patch a day

    Published on

I wonder who does the Mac OS X patch planning. Since last week the Apple Software-update gave me patches on 4 different days. Can’t they collect their patches and release them on one day? It’s not like Apple is in a hurry (DNS bug fix).

  8. Steve, did you approve the iTunes Genius UI?

    Published on

Since the latest iTunes update I have the new Genius functionality. Apple finally suggests music based on what I listen to and not only what’s in my iTunes Store basket. Last.FM already did this but why use 2 apps when one can do the job? I wonder...

  14. That's a lot of open source software

    Published on

For my job as developer I recently used Eclipse, Subclipse, Notepad++, Maven, Maven plugins, Apache Cocoon (and 1 million other Apache projects), ROME (Atom/RSS), Xinha, Prototype and script.aculo.us just to create, compile and manage code. Image ...

  15. Adding a date-time picker to Hippo CMS

    Published on

One wanted, but until recently missing feature of Hippo CMS was a date and time picker. It was already possible to add a date-time field in the editor and edit the time by hand. To be honest, that was a little cheating.

  17. Why do hippos spend most of their time in the water during sunny days?

    Published on

It’s funny to see what people were searching for when they came on my blog. Two people searched for the answer on Google and for some reason my blog is the first hit. I think it’s because they want to cool off a bit.

  19. Backing up my files

About 10 years ago I had a tape drive to backup my files. It was very slow and didn’t fit in my later computers. I once tried to backup my files on cd’s but the number of cd’s I needed increased. On my iMac I was finally able to backup on DVD but ...
